Weetabix Bronze Award Winning Community Cafe 2022 & 2023

The Place to Bee is a provision for Special Educational Needs Students aged 16-25. which offers a work based placement relating to all aspects of retail. We aslo provide work based experiences and "life skills"  as part of the Preparation for Adulthood curriculum for students who attend the Bee Hive, our post 16 provision.

Students have  opportunities to learn about Health and Safety in the Work place, Customer Service, Food Hygiene and safety and gain certificated qualifications. They are involved in every aspect of the business, developing life long skills which will enable them to potentially access employment in the future.

Our students attend the provision for 50 weeks of the year. They are offered a trial two hour taster session to see if they might want to work within a retail environment which encompasses an induction into who we are and what we do.

The Lewis Foundation
On Wednesdays and Fridays students from The Place to Bee work in the Lewis Foundation Outlet store in The Grosvenor centre. We have been working in partnership with  the store since July 2023. This offers our students opportunities to work in a larger retail environment and gain new skills working within the wider community.
All the items in the shop are donated by businesses and members of the general public.  All money raised in the shop goes to the gift packs for patients undergoing Cancer Treatment.  Students gain a lot of additional skills from working in the community and we love being part of the Lewis Foundation journey.
Sweet Concessions
Our Sweet Concessions are well supported by a wide variety of local businesses.
Students are responsible for maintaining the concessions. If anyone would like a sweet concession we are more than happy to provide you with a wide variety of sweets.
